Post Op measuring the right Metrics at the Global Orthopaedic Summit in Dubai
Our problems in surgical follow up are often related to our focus on the wrong metrics.
Measure the wrong metric and we will see behaviours that lead to outcomes that we do not desire… or perhaps… that are desirable to the wrong stakeholders. In a surgical pathway the most important stakeholder is the patient.
Surgical Site Infection (SSI) prevention is a desirable outcome.
We at Post Op encourage standardising follow up care – particularly in the first 30 days after surgery. We optimise the measurement of SSI using a standard tool and encourage patient led reporting.
Post Op had the privilege to present to the Orthopaedic community at Global Orthopaedic Summit 2024 in Dubai about the need to focus on the right STAKEHOLDER, the right METRIC, the right BEHAVIOUR and the right OUTCOME.
